Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building

West Area

  • night views

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is about a 10-minute walk from Shinjuku Station's West Exit. You can see a sweeping panorama of Tokyo from the two free observatories 202 meters off the ground. The dedicated elevator soars 202 meters to the 45th floor observatories in 55 seconds flat. In addition to the views of Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Sky Tree®, the ability to see as far away as Mount Fuji on clear days with low temperatures makes these observatories a popular destination. After taking in the scenery, enjoy a meal at the cafés and restaurants inside. Retailers in the observatories also offer maneki neko (beckoning cats), seasonal goods and other Tokyo/Japanese souvenirs for sale.
