With the motto of serving “the finest tempura at reasonable prices,” Tempura Tsunahachi is popular among overseas visitors for their Edomae-style tempura using fresh ingredients throughout the year. Expect to pay around 3,000 to 5,000 yen. Despite being located at the Shinjuku East Exit, the main location maintains a traditional Japanese atmosphere and has become a popular place to take selfies. For eating, a stool at the counter is highly recommended, so you can watch the seasoned chefs clean the fresh seafood procured each morning from the Tsukiji fish market, and prepare and serve the meals. Sake brewed from regions around Japan is of course available as it is such a great match with tempura. Also look for shochu, awamori and even wine, which has grown in popularity in recent years.
