Relax Under the Autumn Moon on Shinjuku’s Southern Terrace

Mon, October 01, 2018 - Wed, October 31, 2018

Enjoy autumn at the special Moon Terrace event taking place on Shinjuku's Southern Terrace. Fall is a time for moon watching in Japan, so the special moon terrace area is the perfect place to do just that. Grab some seasonal dishes and drinks from the surrounding shops and relax outside on the terrace. The space also includes a unique Japanese style stage supported by over three hundred sanbou, a type of plate used to offer snacks to the moon during the moon watching season. Fall is known as the season for arts, reading and eating in Japan, so all three elements have been incorporated into this event. There will be art related to moon viewing on display throughout the event, and a live concert featuring three musicians on Friday, October 19th. On the 19th and 20th, Book Truck will be open selling artbooks, picture books and other literature, as will Petit Delirium Tap Cafe's food truck, offering Belgian Beer and Japanese sake, and a Luke's Lobster food truck. On the 19th, an Otsukimi Kitchen food truck selling dishes traditionally eaten during the moon watching season will be open. A bazaar with a focus on accessories and other small items made by artists will take place on the 20th. Make the most of fall and enjoy moon watching in the big city! See the official website for more details.
