It’s Time Once Again for Shinjuku’s Colorful Bali Festival!
Wed, July 31, 2019 - Sun, August 04, 2019
During the Kecak Festival, what looks like a ceremonial gate to a Bali temple is hidden in the shadows of Shinjuku's skyscrapers, with a line of street stalls following it. You can see performances featuring Bali's spiritual Kecak music, bamboo ensemble Jegog, traditional Gamelan music from a brass orchestra, choral performances from performers from Bulgaria and Georgia and a performance from Tohoku's taiko drum ensemble. All of these performances are free! This summer festival where you can try out musical instruments is enjoyed by people from all over the world. The Yamashirogumi, a group of musicians famous for the music of the movie Akira, will be performing on all five days. They will be performing songs from Akira in addition to other songs.
