Eat Delicious and Reasonably Priced Sushi in West Shinjuku!

Sep 13, 2018

Even if you can’t make it to Tsukiji, Tokyo’s fish market, you can still enjoy delicious sushi at many shops in Shinjuku. In this article, we would like to introduce you to three sushi restaurants near Shinjuku Station’s West Exit. These range from kaiten sushi (merry-go-round sushi) to restaurants where you can stand and eat a quick meal. All of these restaurants have English menus, so it is easy to place your order!

Check Out Himawari Sushi for a Fun Merry-Go-Round Sushi Experience!

Himawari Sushi is a kaiten sushi restaurant that is popular with locals and tourists alike. The bright interior is tidy and features both seats directly at the counter and tables perfect for a large number of people.

They have a multilingual menu with English, Chinese and Korean, so even if you do not speak Japanese you can still order smoothly.

It’s quite the fun experience to see sushi pass right before your eyes on the conveyor belt! It’s OK to take the plate off of the conveyor belt, or you can order directly from the staff and they will make your order fresh. Please note that not everything is the same price at Himawari Sushi - the color of the plate indicates the price, so please be careful!

In our opinion, the best value is the variety of rice bowls topped with seafood served during lunch for only 600 yen. The meal also comes with miso soup and a side dish (usually a small salad). This is an excellent deal! This time, we ordered the salmon rice bowl. The raw salmon, grilled salmon and fatty salmon over the warm rice was very good – you can try three types of salmon in one dish!

At most kaiten sushi restaurants, you have to make the tea yourself. You can press the button with your hand as seen in the picture above, or press the button with the tea cup. The water comes out of the tap hot, so please take care not to burn yourself!

If you want delicious and reasonably priced sushi for lunch, Himawari Sushi is the place to go!

Feast on the All-You-Can-Eat Menu at Kizuna Sushi

The final restaurant we would like to introduce is Kizuna Sushi, which is in a prime location only a five-minute walk from the West Exit of Shinjuku Station.

The wooden interior is in contrast to the hustle and bustle of the outside business district, so you can feel at ease in this restaurant.

There is a multilingual menu available for those who cannot read Japanese at this branch. This time, we ordered the Excellent Sushi Mix, Seaweed Miso Soup, three pieces of various gunkanmaki (hand rolled sushi) and salmon sushi. The Excellent Sushi Mix both looked and tasted as excellent as advertised, and was enough to feed the two of us.

The quality of the sushi, as well as the price and service were all very good. We recommend ordering their all-you-can-eat course when you are hungry for sushi! Of course, you can also order a la carte, with one piece of sushi starting from 99 yen (excluding tax). They also offer fried dishes, tempura, dessert and other dishes made with high-quality ingredients.
