Odakyu Department Store

The Odakyu Department Store is directly connected to Shinjuku Station for easy access. There are two Odakyu shopping complexes in Shinjuku - the main department store and the HALC Department Store. The calm mood in these stores allows you to take your time finding what you’re looking for. You can find popular cosmetics, brand name goods, food, appliances, sporting goods, and more. Check out the 12th to 14th floors of the main building, where you can find Manhattan Hills, a space with Japanese, Chinese, and western-style restaurants. Keio Department Store

The Keio Department Store is a minute walk from Shinjuku Station. It’s close to the airport Limousine Bus station, so it’s an excellent spot to get in some shopping before heading back home. The Keio Department Store hosts many yearly events and exhibitions, including the National New Year’s Famous Ekiben Tournament. The rooftop beer garden and barbecue pit are popular as well. Recent ongoing renovations have added popular shops to the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th floors, including shops selling a wide variety of makeup and those selling bread and sweets on the food floor.

Takashimaya

Takashimaya Times Square, one part of Takashimaya Shinjuku, has become a landmark near Shinjuku Station’s South Exit, right in front of the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal. Enjoy shopping for luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Chanel, Japanese cosmetics, and more in this spacious department store with high ceilings. Specialty shops such as Tokyu Hands, Uniqlo are in the same building, making this a great place for one-stop shopping. What are Department Stores Doing About COVID-19?

All of the department stores in Shinjuku have taken precautions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Keep reading to find out more about what is being done.


Precautions Taken at the Shopping Mall Entrance:
- A thermometer that takes temperature without making contact is at the front of shops.
- Hand sanitizer is near the entrance

*The machine seen in the photo is the Panasonic Anshin Gate, a machine that takes customers’ temperatures without making contact while they sanitize their hands. It will be in the department store until Friday, March 19th. Even after the Anshin Gate is removed, a contactless thermometer and hand sanitizer will still be at the entrance.
*The Anshin Gate machine is only installed at the Odakyu Department Store.


Precautions in Place to Minimize Contact:
- Vinyl sheets are set up between the customer and staff.
- Customers are required to put their cash or credit card on a tray before passing it to the staff.
- Maintaining social distance between customers is encouraged, and marks indicating where to wait are on the floor.

Precautions Taken at Each Shop:
- Each shop has hand sanitizer available.
- All of the staff members are required to wear masks, as well as gloves and face shields if required.
- Products are disinfected as required, and regular cleaning is done.
