Mensho San Francisco Brings Ramen from America’s West Coast to Japan

When you’re visiting Japan, ramen is certainly on this list of foods that you cannot miss. Restaurants that are part of the Shono Menya group offer ramen for all tastes, from soupless ramen to vegetable ramen, are all popular. One of this group’s shops was first open in the US before coming to Japan. In this article, we will introduce you to Mensho San Francisco, a popular ramen shop with a foundation in Japan and an international focus.
The History of Mensho Inc.
Menya Shono was founded in 2005 by Tomoharu Shono and was incorporated as Mensho Inc. in 2010, the company name being a combination of the Japanese word for noodles (men) and the founder’s name. Shops have been opening one after the other since 2011, with each shop have a unique name and specialty, such as spicy ramen or vegetable ramen.
Mensho’s first overseas branch was Mensho San Francisco, which opened in 2016. The menu was tailored to American tastes, while still serving authentic ramen. The San Francisco shop was selected for two years in a row by Michelin USA for its high-quality ramen. The quality of their dishes has been recognized large companies, with owner Tomoharu Shono being invited as a guest chef to Twitter’s headquarters in 2017. This creative ramen is beloved by young people and has received tremendous support from ramen lovers.
In 2018, Mensho San Francisco opened in the Shinjuku Mylord Department Store, bringing its American-inspired ramen dishes to Japanese customers. If you’re new to ramen, trying Mensho’s ramen is a great place to start!
