Try Miyazaki Prefecture’s Cuisine during the Hinata Terrace Event in Shinjuku!

The Hinata Terrace event is currently taking place at Shinjuku Southern Terrace, a shopping street located near the South Exit of Shinjuku Station. The purpose of this event is to promote Miyazaki Prefecture, a sunny and warm area located in the south of Kyushu, Japan’s southern island. This prefecture has the nickname “Nihon no Hinata (Japan’s Sunny Place)” and is known for its bountiful nature and as a tourist spot that appears in Japanese legends. This event will give you a chance to experience the wonder of the area without leaving the big city!

Don’t miss the Hinata Miyazaki Gourmet Fair taking place at 5 shops on Shinjuku Southern Terrace and in the Odakyu Hotel Century Southern Tower during the Hinata Terrace Event. There are a total of 8 dishes available at these shops, and our editorial team went to try one of them at the restaurant Miyazaki Fudo Quwanne, located on the second floor of Shinjuku Miyazaki-kan KONNE Building.

We enjoyed Quwanne’s warm, wooden interior made with materials from Miyazaki, from the walls to the furniture. You can watch your meal being made from the counter seats, and table seats are also available. The word quwanne means “please eat” in Miyazaki’s local dialect, and we were more than happy to do so in this relaxing restaurant!

We chose the Miyazaki Gochiso Gozen Meal, one of the dishes included in the Hinata Gourmet Fair. This meal included 8 different traditional dishes from Miyazaki, including chicken, seafood, and vegetables. The charcoal-grilled Miyazaki Jitokko, free-range chicken that take two to three times longer to raise than standard domesticated ones, and the Katsuo no Yakkiri, grilled slices on bonito, were especially delicious! The Obi no Tempura, a mix of fish and tofu tempura, and the Cheese Manju were also great representations of Miyazaki’s cuisine. This big lunch won’t leave you feeling hungry, and you can get a taste of Japan’s southern islands too!

If you’re looking for a fantastic lunch during your trip to Shinjuku, then try this lunch from Japan’s southern island! You’re sure to enjoy your meal to the fullest!
