Try Out J.S. Burger Café’s Limited-Time Matcha Burger

When you think of matcha-flavored foods, sweets such as cookies and cakes are likely the first things that come to mind. However, for a limited time, you have the chance to try a matcha hamburger in Shinjuku!

Journal Standard is a popular clothing shop managed by Baycrews Group. Five different restaurants (J.S. Burgers Café. J.S. Curry, J.S. Foodies, J.S. Steak Stand and J.S. Pancake Café) carry the Journal Standard branding. From March 4th, all five of these restaurants will be offering an original dish in collaboration with Tsujiri, a matcha specialty shop based in Kyoto.

One of J.S. Burgers Café's branches is located in Shinjuku! We stopped by to try the Free Range Red Snapper Bacon & Egg Fish Burger with Avocado Matcha Tartar. The buns have been made with matcha from Tsujiri, and the deep-fried red snapper is succulent. The aroma from the buns is apparent when you go to take a bite, and the avocado tartar sauce mixed with matcha powder and white miso add a nice kick.

The burger also comes with chips on the side. Add some of the matcha salt to enjoy the unique flavor to the max!

You may think that the bitter taste of matcha wouldn’t work in a burger, but this fish burger certainly does! This is a burger that you can only try in Japan, so don’t miss it! This red snapper burger will only be on sale until the end of March, so try it during your trip to Shinjuku!
