Tokyo Metropolitan Government

West Area

  • night views

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is located about a 10-minute walk from the Shinjuku Station West Exit. Free observatories command sweeping panoramas of Tokyo from 202 meters off the ground. On clear days with low temperatures, in addition to the views of Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Sky Tree®, the ability to see as far away as Mount Fuji makes these observatories a popular destination. The dedicated elevator soars 202 meters to the 45th floor observatories in 55 seconds flat. After the scenery, enjoy a meal at the cafés and restaurants. Retailers also offer maneki neko (beckoning cats), seasonal goods and other Tokyo/Japanese items for sale.
